Lebkuchendorf, held October 19 at Kitchener City Hall was a lot of fun! In English it means "GINGERBREAD VILLAGE" and that's what we created as over 20 groups of families and friends decorated their own gingerbread houses to celebrate KW Octoberfest. Thank you to our Volunteers for helping make this a fun & family friendly event for Oktoberfest!

Heartwood Place is excited to announce that three young men from our community cycled across Canada in support of our organization and raised over $22,600 to support affordable housing in our community. Jordan Schmidt, Kyle Martin and Tyler Cadman left Waterloo on June 17 2012 and cycled to St. John's Newfoundland where they dipped their bike wheels into the ocean. They then flew to Vancouver and continued their journey across the Canadian west, arriving at Kitchener City Hall on August 7 2012. There were loud cheers and congratulations from their friends and family who welcomed them home! Special thanks to Doug Mochrie of M.O. Social Media, Royal Distributing and Marin Bikes for exceptional support.

HEARTWOOD PLACE was grateful to be named the "charity of choice" for this year's golf tournament and received over $26,000 to support more affordable housing in our region. While receiving national recognition for being an exceptional course, Westmount should also be recognized for its commitment to our community. Thanks to Coldwell Banker Peter Realty for being the title sponsor, to many other sponsors and contributors to the auction, with special thanks to Rick Smerchinski, chair of the committee who "makes it happen"!
It was a beautiful evening and the Victoria Park Pavilion was a wonderful setting for another marvelous performance by Alysha Brillinger, a brilliant young musician from our community. Then followed an exceptional performance by Ashley MacIsaac whose fiddle was on fire, accompanied by Barbara Magone whose fingers were hitting the ivory keys with great speed. June 20, 2012 will be an evening to remember for everyone in the audience.
